At first glance, O My Bag makes beautiful, timeless bags. The kind you’ll keep reaching for year after year but when you look a little closer, you realise there’s so much more to the story (which is exactly why we’re so excited to be stocking them in Ohh! By Gum!).

This is a mission-driven label that stitches together ethics, innovation, and environmental responsibility in every piece and it shows.

Certified B Corp (and smashing it)

O My Bag has been a Certified B Corporation since September 2021, with an impressive B Impact Score of 129.4. To put that in perspective, you need 80 points to get certified. That’s a huge achievement and they worked hard for it.

For them, B Corp status isn’t just a shiny badge to stick on a website. It’s the foundation of how they do business. Their recertification process looked at everything from worker welfare to environmental impact. Since 2021, they’ve gone from 94.1 points to 129.4, thanks to improvements like their Living Wage initiative and using even more eco-conscious materials. Which is amazing.

Planet-friendly by design

Materials are where O My Bag really shines. In 2021, they introduced Uppeal™, a vegan leather alternative made from apple waste. Yes, apple waste! How clever is that? Then in 2024, they launched Mirum®, the world’s first plastic-free leather alternative made from natural rubber, plant oils, pigments, and minerals.

And if you prefer traditional leather, they work with LWG Gold–certified tanneries and use GOTS-certified organic cotton for linings. Some of their cotton even comes directly from farmers via the Anandi Eco-Farm project.

Empowering people & communities

Here’s what we really love: behind every O My Bag is a team of talented makers in Kolkata, India. O My Bag partners long-term with four SA8000-certified, WFTO-member factories where fair wages, safety, and gender equality are prioritised.

The brand also reinvests 1% of its annual revenue into local community projects around Kolkata from vocational training to women’s empowerment initiatives. Honestly, that feels pretty special to be supporting.

Tackling carbon & waste

O My Bag is also doing the hard work on carbon reduction. In 2022, they joined GoodShipping, a sustainable cargo initiative, to move freight using marine biofuel instead of fossil fuels. That shift cut freight emissions by 100% from well-to-exhaust. 

Their packaging is recycled, and they work with RePack, a reusable packaging system where you can return packaging and get rewarded with discounts. They even run a Pre-Loved Library, so you can give your bag a second life or pick up a pre-loved beauty.

And because transparency matters, they publish their annual carbon reports too!
